Nice to See You, But I’ve Only……. (A short play)
With the enforcement of the smoking ban in the workplace some pubs have created smoking areas for their patrons but many do not have the space. For many town centre pubs smokers continue to congregate just outside the door. In this sketch daytime drinker Cha steps outside the pub for a cigarette. Lark, who is on his lunch break, passes by at the same time and out of courtesy stops briefly to say hello.
Cha holds him their complaining of the boring company inside the pub and selfishly talking about his own ailments. Lark keeps trying to leave and explains that his lunch break is running out, but to no avail. Just as he thinks he can escape because Cha is going back inside, Cha’s drinking buddy, Dino. appears for a cigarette and the whole thing starts again causing poor Lark even more stress.
This is a funny three way exchange where the actors explore and experience several different emotions over a short period. This is a funny piece that will leave the audience laughing out loud. It is easy to identify with this sketch as many will kno, or at least know off, characters like Cha and Dino.
